The first 166 T-shirts purchased as part of the Youth Movement to fight the Nevada Wilderness Project proposal went on sale this
week and were to be made available at the Smith Valley Advisory Council meeting this past Wednesday night.
Youth Movement organizer Melissa Hanley announced the T-shirts will also be on sale at Mark's Collision Repair and Goldfield Auto
Parts in Yerington; and interested people can call her on her cell at 775-842-0609. An anonymous donor financed the purchase of the
initial T-shirt order, and "I certainly want to thank that donor", she added.
Each T-shirt cost $3 to make and is being sold for $10 with the difference from the first 100 sold T-shirts going to the
locally-organized and financed Citizens for Public Access to help defray costs for copying, printing, and more. The profit from
other T-shirts in this initial order will go to purchase more shirts.
Miss Hanley said she has encountered some opposition to her Youth Movement efforts in recent days. "But that doesn't bother me. I
still think this issue is important to the youth in our communities. We are the voters of tomorrow," she concluded.
Note from PNMTA Webmaster: Silk screened on the T-shirts was "FTWP" along with the words "Fight The Wilderness Project". On the
Nevada Wilderness Projects web site they claim that "FNWP" was blazened on the T-shirts, with the"F" in standing for F***". They
also claimed someone "paid" to have the T-shirts made. We find this to be a low blow to Melissa and her decision to stand up for
something she strongly believed in. But then the NWP likes to work behind closed doors, in secret, in smoke filled backrooms, where
half truths and lies are the currency of choice. It is interesting how they make innuendos without attributing the source.
